A question of the past - One or Two?

When we started the second adoption journey, we really questioned whether we should adopt a single child, or a sibling group. It was a hard decision and we felt we made the right one. How ironic ... we've since found out we actually didn't make a decision at all.

That was almost a year ago. A time when we really felt that Mikiyas would adjust best with only one sibling joining him. A lot has changed. He's flourished and every single day he prays that God will bring his sister home soon. He talks about sharing toys; he points out clothes and toys we should buy for her; he wants to save parts of his meals for her. A couple of times, Mikiyas has also put in his request for more brothers and sisters thereafter.

We received a file update some time ago. Just in case we had forgotten, we were still waiting. This time however, it said we were waiting for "either a female or siblings under 30 months". Hmm... typo?

We left that for a while, talking about it occasionally and praying about it. I just recently contacted CAFAC to find out if it really meant what it said, or if it was an error. It's real! We're on the list for either. Which ever comes up first will be what we are referred.

Because at the time that our homestudy was completed we were really okay with receiving either, our social worker put in the report that were approved for either. We made a decision, a hard one, because we thought we had to. We went with one child thinking of Mikiyas and how he was at that time. But, we didn't actually make the decision and I guess it shows that God will continue to form our family. We will be excited with whichever we are referred when the time comes. God knows what is best for our family, and for Mikiyas. And what we thought we knew a year ago, may not be what will be best in another year from now.

It's really good that you are making your decision with him in mind... and really really good that you feel he has grown that much, and is that much more secure. It's so good to hear.

On a different note, I also wanted to say hi and let you know that our blog has moved so that you can update/ add your link. Our Rowan Family blog is now located at http://rowanfamilytree.com

See ya there!

Funny how things like that happen - there is always a reason!

Hello,
I tagged you to list 7 random things about yourself. I know we have done it before, but I think it has been a while!
