Court Closure Has Caused Delay

Although things were very optimistic for us, in that we would not be affected by court closures, that is not the case.  We have been affected.  Our file, as with many others, has been delayed.

We passed court.  We received our MOWA approval.  Both things were the BIG steps needing to be done in order for us to proceed without delays caused by the court date.  So why are we delayed?  Because MOWA did not physically release the documents before the court closure.  Evidently, the next steps cannot be taken without the paperwork.  A new birth certificate cannot be issued.  A new passport cannot be obtained.  Translating all the documents cannot be completed.  Thereby, no application for the visa / immigration can be made.

The court is closed until October 13.  There is hope that the amazing lady with our agency in Ethiopia will be able to have the head of MOWA get the documents before the court re-opens.  The head of MOWA is away right now, but CAFAC is optimistic that she will be able to help upon her return.  So there is hope.  If not, rushing to have the big court date and MOWA approval before the court closed was not worth the panic.

We received word of our MOWA approval On August 10.  It's been wasted time since then.  We are not angry.  We are not depressed.  We are not discouraged.  Just annoyed.  We will continue to be patient.  We will trust that this is still God's perfect timing ~ perhaps even if just to give more post-surgery recovery time to my mother so she can make the trip with us.  That alone would make the delay worth it.  But, as many steps are still needed to be completed before we can go get Mihret, please continue to pray and hope that the documents will be released soon.

Oh Sheri,
I'm so sorry to hear about this. And yet, I am so encouraged by your faith in God's timing. We will continue to pray along with you.
