After two years of fundraising [and a little stressing], our family completed the fundraising of $25,000.00 for the spring capping and water supply to a village in Southern Ethiopia. This morning a final donation was received bringing conclusion to an amazing adventure.
This project was an expensive project because it was not just a matter of digging a well and walking away. Although expertise to complete this was needed, the people of the village built it themselves, with proper training being provided, and they therefore own it. I mean this in the sense that there is the sense of ownership for them. This includes lying 3.12km of pipe down. They also received the training to build and repair so that this will last lifetimes over. Proper hygiene and nutrition training was also completed.
The village has increased in numbers since the building was completed. Families have been reunited as members who worked outside of the village have been able to return home to healthy growing crops, healthy clean water and several now-established village committees to look after water management, healthy and environment [including tree planting, protection and watershed management].

We will note that the building completed just prior to the drought so lives were saved from one little boy's dream. THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS. Together, we gave life! Thank you for being super heroes.

Absolutely amazing! You are all wonderful people. Miki rocks!
What an amazing vision and now it has become a reality! So proud of your efforts! You certainly gave life and what better timing! This certainly makes me think of the correlation between this vision and "it takes a village"!
