The final meeting with our social worker is tomorrow. I can't believe it. As much as the end seems so far away it also seems like the last three months of homestudy has flown by. That's probably because we've spent it engrossed in reading materials.
We finished our essay last Saturday morning so now we're just finishing up our CAFAC materials. That doesn't have to be completed by tomorrow but does need to be done in the very near future. After the meeting tomorrow, our SW just needs to complete her report and Sunrise will ship everything we've done to CAFAC for the dossier to be completed and then endorsed in Ottawa. We're hoping that by the end of May / early June our dossier will be heading to Ethiopia. If you'd like to read the essay, please email us your request and we will gladly send it to you.
Our parenting class on Tuesday was very good. We were even able to use our cats as examples when talking about misbehaviour. Our group also grew by a couple people, but we're still the only ones with no children.
I have been able to find a lot of children's books that are specifically regarding racial issues and adoption. If you would like to take a look at some examples of what the stories are about, please visit www.chapters.ca and click on wish list. On the right hand side you can type in our email address and see a listing of books we plan to buy. There are more out there of course, but some I've already ordered so they've come off my list. My library is becoming large already.
We've put up a poster in our complex regarding the garage sale. It's only fair we now hit up our friends and family. The fundraiser garage sale will happen in June some time. Proceeds will go towards the adoption. As well, we will be collecting money and baby items [new and used] to take to the orphanage. It is a unwritten requirement that we each take a suitcase of items to the orphanage as they are in huge need.
If anyone has things they would like to donate to either cause, please drop them off at our house or call us to pick them up. Please specify for which cause you would like money from the garage sale item to be used for. If you have new or used baby items you would like to send to the orphanage, we will take those anytime between now and our trip next year. Any money donated to the orphanage will spent by us in Ethiopia for larger items.
That's it for now. We will be posting again this weekend once our final SW visit is complete.
