The sale was awesome! We raised a total of $1,312.83.
As well, a couple will be donating specifically for the orphanages a large sum of money. It is to match their expenses incurred while on a cruise later this month. I won't go into the details of the story right now as I hope to have them tell their story themselves.
Although the sale didn't start until 9:00 am we had a large crowd starting by 8:00 am. The amount of stuff donated was phenomenal and people were still bringing items to sell throughout the day. We still have about 20% of the items remaining in our basement [mostly children's clothes]. Apparently our complex has garage sales throughout the summer, almost monthly, so we'll set up again. On July 8, 2006 we also have another fundraiser garage sale in 100 Mile House so we'll load things up to take there too.
The hot dog / pop sale was small as the biggest crowds came in the morning before it started.
Thank you to our church for putting it in the church bulliten, the local papers for the classified ads; Vancouver Civics Club and Red Pepper Racing for the forum posts; IGA for hot dog buns; J. Rushton Contracting and The Mad Butcher for the weinies; John, Leona, Anita, Laura and Eli for working the crowds; Randy ['lil brown brother] for cooking the hot dogs; Ian for helping us clean up; and the so many of you who have donated items, money and time.

That is absolutely wonderful you guys. Usually people only raise a couple hundred at the garage sales. Sorry we couldn’t be there to help. Hopefully we’ll talk soon.
