Remembering Christmas

Lyle and I only started to begin enjoying Christmas again in the last couple years. Two miscarriages during Christmas can make it hard to celebrate. But, we reminded ourselves that Christmas was not about us. It's about Christ's birth. His coming to save us all. Christmas is the beginning of a sacrifice. A sacrifice of love. It's a time to celebrate no matter what trials you may be faced with.

When it's your friend's birthday, you put that happy face on and still try to have a good time. You remember that it's about them, not you. And when it's your birthday you want to tell everyone [unless you hit THAT certain age ;) ]. You hope people remember that it's your day.

Mikiyas is now a part of our family. He is our son. The first Christmas as our son is now upon us, and he can't be with us. It was sad waking up and thinking of him. Looking at his picture. Opening the few gifts for him under the tree. But we still celebrate. Christmas isn't about him either.

We remember the loved ones that can't be with us at Christmas. Those who have passed on; those who have moved away. We remember the children waiting to come home to families. But we also remember Christ. And we celebrate. The other 364 days of the year can fly by so fast with no day just to celebrate Christ's birth ... the beginning of sacrifice. Well, we need to do the same thing for Christ's birthday. We need to enjoy the day and remember the meaning of Christmas.

Merry Christmas everyone!

that's so true Sheri...it is about HIM, as hard as it is sometimes to put on a happy face, it's so important to remember WHY we celebrate Christmas at all. thanks for sharing your heart...
