Afrikadey

On another note ... we are hoping you can join us in Calgary for the Afrikadey Celebration.  Mikiyas and I will be speaking at the Friday night symposium held at the Library main branch.  We have the wonderful opportunity to meet and speak with many award winning professionals.  Please come join us Friday, August 12, 2011 at 7:00 pm.  Here are some highlights of who will be there, and other things happening:

Creative Youth Concert on August 10th, will feature the top youth acts from our Black History Month Creative Youth Concert.

Opening Gala on August 8th will feature a very unique band called Etran Finatawa who perform the Saharan Blues. This event will also feature a special screening of the film "13 Months of David" by Dr. Nic David, a fashion show, African appetizers, dancing, and jazz poetry by Malcolm Mooney and percussionist Luis Tovar.
