Lyle's Gone For Court

Lyle left for Ethiopia on Thursday [Jul 21'11].  I had next to no kids for the morning so I was able to take those I had to the airport with me.  This meant I was able to drive Lyle myself, rather than having someone else go.  It was good that Mikiyas and I could say by there, and I could be on standby should any of the bags be over weight.  However, everything was allowed through and our scale at home still seems to match that of the airport.  Other people in line weren't so lucky.  In total, the donations amounted to 93.6 lbs, and we are so thankful for everyone who contributed the various items.

Lyle arrived in Ethiopia about 24 hours later.  It was Friday night for him.  After the various airport line ups, he arrived safely at the guest house and slept.  His Saturday was spent shopping with other families he was staying with.  I finally was able to speak to him today [our Saturday noon and his Saturday bed time].  He said he bought A LOT of things, mainly keeping in mind the things we are providing to HOPE International for the fundraising dinner in October.  The families also attended the National Museum.  This will be something he'll repeat on our next trip as we'd like to take Mikiyas there.

His Sunday he is off to the Portuguese Bridge two hours outside the city.  It is apparently fascinating and will be a repeated trip when we go to pick up Mihret.  He will likely spend tomorrow evening visiting our dear friend Robel.  It has been too long since we've last visited.

So all is going well.  We miss him and wish desperately we could be there with him.  It is hard being the mom to our soon-to-be-daughter and not being able to meet her or attend the court.  It is hard to not be part of what Lyle is doing.  The one joy of having the bed to myself was stolen by the cat, the dog and Mikiyas.  It seems everyone misses having Lyle home.

The one thing Lyle stressed on the phone today was the overwhelming amount of donations the foster home receives.  It appears they are inundated with items.  This is not always the case but with the extra trips for court, they are now receiving double loads.  So, we will be revamping our donation plans for the big trip we hope to take soon.

Thank you for your continued prayers.  I hope to be sharing wonderful news of court in a few days!

When is court exactly? I will be praying.

I've never heard of the Portuguese Bridge before. I hope he takes some pictures.
